Flightec delivers precise, high-quality geophysical survey data that gives exploration teams greater confidence in where to target next - reducing uncertainty and managing risk.
About Flightec
Turning data into insight
that unlocks potential.
Flightec is Southern Africa's specialist partner in mining and mineral exploration, combining advanced unmanned systems with aerial, subsurface and engineering expertise to deliver trusted insight across the mineral exploration lifecycle. Our technology and field expertise allow us to operate efficiently across complex environments, while safety, compliance and quality standards underpin every project we deliver.
Our Approach
Our aircraft reach locations that ground crews can't. We cover more area, in less time, with reliable airborne data across even the most remote and rugged environments.
Behind every step is a technical team fluent in the geophysics beneath it. From airborne survey to optical borehole imaging, magnetic susceptibility and natural gamma ray wireline logging. We turn raw data into a model you can explore.
Our engineers design specialized technology, pushing the envelope and shaping the future of exploration.
Capability
A clearer understanding from
above and below the surface.
From airborne surveys to intelligence captured directly from the borehole, Flightec connects complementary datasets to build a more complete understanding of terrain, geology and potential targets.
Above
Making the inaccessible accessible.
Airborne Geophysical Surveys and Mapping
Using advanced unmanned systems, we acquire high-resolution data across large, remote and challenging environments — accessing difficult terrain that can be impractical to survey using conventional methods.
Topographic Surveys
Understand the terrain at the level where decisions are made.
Magnetic Surveys
See what greater magnetic resolution can reveal.
Radiometric Surveys
Move from broad regional context to detailed precision.
Below
Wireline Logging
Add direct measurements from boreholes to further develop the understanding from surface surveys and drilling. Flightec's wireline logging services provide continuous, depth-referenced data that supports geological correlations, structural interpretations and better-informed exploration decision making.
Optical Borehole Imaging
Add continuous structural context to the drilling record.
Magnetic Susceptibility Logging
Connect surface magnetic patterns with measurements from inside the borehole.
Natural Gamma Ray Logging
Add another layer of depth-referenced information to the geological model.

Where We Operate
Southern African capability,
built for regional realities.
Flightec supports mining and mineral exploration projects across Southern Africa.
Successful regional delivery requires more than technical equipment. It requires careful planning, regulatory compliance, reliable logistics, clear communication and the ability to adapt to challenging field conditions.
Flightec brings these requirements together through one experienced regional team.

Where We Operate From
FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Which countries does Flightec operate in?
Flightec has established compliance arrangements for survey operations in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Lesotho. Our reach extends beyond these countries, and we welcome enquiries from across Africa and internationally. For projects in new locations, we assess local requirements and arrange the necessary approvals before operations begin.
What certifications and operational approvals does Flightec hold?
Flightec’s South African aviation certifications and operational approvals cover beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flights, night operations and multi-drone surveys. They also provide for operations in controlled and restricted airspace, up to 1,500 feet, and near aerodromes, subject to the applicable permissions and operating conditions. These capabilities allow us to plan surveys across a wide range of environments, with country-specific and project-specific approvals arranged where required.
How much does a drone geophysical survey cost?
The cost of a drone geophysical survey depends on the survey area, required data resolution, sensor selection and site location. Flight-line spacing, terrain, access and regulatory requirements also influence the scope and cost. Sharing your project boundaries and exploration objectives helps Flightec prepare a proposal matched to the information you need.
How long does an airborne survey take to complete?
Survey timelines include planning and approvals, mobilisation, fieldwork and data processing. The duration depends on the size of the area, flight-line spacing, terrain and weather, as well as the required deliverables. Aviation approvals can affect the start date, so involving Flightec early helps establish a realistic schedule for your exploration programme.
Can geophysical surveys identify mineral deposits before drilling?
Geophysical surveys can identify variations in rock properties that help geologists map structures and prioritise exploration targets. Magnetic and radiometric data can strengthen the geological interpretation when assessed alongside mapping, sampling and existing drilling results. These surveys guide further investigation; drilling and laboratory analysis are still needed to confirm mineralisation and grade.
